When they planned the Dermalogica Look and Learn seminar, the intent was to move beyond theory and give students hands-on exposure to a global professional skincare brand they will work with during their examinations and future careers. T Here is an excerpt from the session that was designed to build clarity, confidence, and practical understanding in a way that truly prepares students for international standards: Dermalogica is a key professional brand within our CIDESCO skin curriculum at LTA School of Beauty. We curated this Dermalogica Look and Learn seminar to ensure students experience international skincare education beyond textbooks. The purpose was simple. Students needed to understand how a global brand works in real professional settings and examinations. During this Dermalogica seminar, our focus was on building strong product knowledge. Dermalogica is used in CIDESCO practical exams, so clarity on ingredients and results is essential. We discussed hero products, hero ingredients, and how these formulations perform across different skin types in India and globally. The Dermalogica session was structured around clear learning goals: • Exposure to an internationally recognised professional skincare brand • Understanding ingredient-led results and product performance • Preparing students for CIDESCO examination protocols A key highlight of the Dermalogica Look and Learn seminar was face mapping. Students were trained to analyse the skin zone by zone using professional headgear with lamp and magnifying lenses. This method ensures no area is missed. It also helps identify actual skin type and concerns before selecting the correct Dermalogica product. Hands-on learning played an important role. Students worked on each other using cleanser, exfoliant, moisturiser, and hydration mist. This allowed them to feel product texture, observe absorption, and understand overall skin response while completing full face mapping routines. The session was further enriched with guidance from Hina Khan, who demonstrated correct headlamp usage and facial zone division. Students were highly engaged and confident by the end of the workshop.
